Biography
Dr. Hwang was raised in the Midwest and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In 1990 he left Illinois for Southern California, where he attended medical school and met his wife. He underwent specialty training in Chicago, Illinois through 1998, after which he moved his family to the Tacoma, Washington area, where he currently resides. He and his wife have four children. A vegetarian himself, Dr. Hwang endorses the idea that a vegetarian diet plays in the prevention and treatment of chronic pain and illness.
Education
Dr. Hwang graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1994. In addition, he underwent specialty training at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program from 1994 through 1998 with an emphasis in Pain Rehabilitation. He maintains board certification by both the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Professional Background
Dr. Hwang has been practicing pain rehabilitation since 1998. He has been a Clinic Physician for UBC, Inc. since May of 2001. In addition to having privileges at the seven hospitals in the area, he conducts a private electrodiagnostic medicine practice in Puyallup, Washington. His passion is to provide pain rehabilitation resources to the under-served, not only in Western Washington, but internationally as well. Dr. Hwang is invited to speak to medical professionals about pain rehabilitation. He emphasizes the importance of lifestyle modification in the treatment of medical problems, including chronic pain.
Board Certification
Dr. Hwang is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilition and board certified in Electrodiagnosis.
