Patient testimonial: Maryam B.Coming to UBC was a blessing. It’s a new beginning for me.
"Although I graduated a few months ago, I wanted to visit UBC today to tell my story about how everyone at UBC helped me and were so friendly. I can’t put a price on all the help, so I want to share my positive UBC experience as a way of saying “thank you.”
Before I came to UBC I was scared and didn’t know what was going to happen to me. I had a lot of pain and stress, on top of which I couldn’t sleep. From a physical standpoint, I was worried about injuring my back again.
While at UBC, I learned about pain management and about pacing myself. Also, I learned how to do many exercises and stretches, which still help me today. I’ve maintained the physical recommendations of UBC. For instance, I work out at the gym three times per week, perform relaxation techniques daily, and stretch twice daily.
After I finished UBC, my attitude changed and I gained confidence. I have learned how to manage my pain. My fear subsided and I wasn’t so afraid of doing the exercises. I’ve learned meditation also, which has helped me immensely on so many levels. I’ve forged an entirely new relationship with my body, and with my life in general. Coming to UBC was a blessing. It’s a new beginning for me.
UBC’s program enabled me to start my own business. Though I’ve been an esthetician since I was a teenager, I earned my license in the U.S. in 2001. Now I rent a room at Salon Domani in Bellevue where I provide many services, including facials, waxing, and microdermabrasion.
Coming to UBC was one of the best things that has happened to me, and I’m so thankful. I eat better now, and I exercise without being afraid of hurting myself. Thank you so much everybody! You’re all so caring and knowledgeable. Everyone was great and very supportive.
UBC, you have no idea how much you are helping people not only on how to manage their pain, but also on helping looking at life differently – for the better. I can easily say that the UBC program was one of the greatest experiences of my life."
